It was 6 below Zero this morning with a very stout wind blowing on the peak.  Yesterday’s installment of medium density Essence went a long way to improving the dance floor.  That stout wind stripped any loose snow from the West facing aspects and placed it on the adjacent aspects.  That bit of wind action made some of those wind deposited lines extra special indeed.  This new snow seemed to have bonded to the old layer, adding nice traction to the sections that held the accumulation.  The off trail sections were improved as well with the wind filling in some of the more deeply cut terrain features.  There were still some greasy spots to negotiate, so laying a fully committed edge could leave you hanging way out there.  I am still reticent to trust too much to a locked up turn  until we get a requisite amount of additional cover.  Tomorrow, look for those sections of wind deposited snow to be scattered around the dial, so look around for some very nice lines.  The Cirque Traverse is still holding up pretty well, but there is still some gnar to deal with here and there.  Lines are still improving with wear out in the far reached as the lighter traffic and wind are letting the aspects smooth a bit.  I will be looking for the out of the way lines for the goods in the AM.  Traffic should be light again as we begin the week, and a great day of snow sport sliding will be on tap.  See you there for the fast laps.
