How did I get here?  I don’t know.  It’s certainly a case of getting what you wish for and then some.

I have been privileged to have skied Snowbird, well, nigh daily for 35 years. THE BIRD cannot be exaggerated as the reality transcends exaggeration and is replete with legends and memories of all who have plumbed the depths of it’s incomparable essence.  I am blessed!

I have experienced the myriad of faces at Snowbird and it’s constantly changing conditions.  I use this experience to navigate my way through each run and day.   I am continually amazed at how the aspects change in the course of the day and even by the hour.

I rely on a network of fellow sliders to provide a sense of conditions from all the far flung reaches.  I am here because I love to be here.  I share because it is in my nature and on this blog I will share my perspectives on prevailing conditions and perhaps even some prognostications on … who knows what…?    SO, off we go.  Powder to the people.

Guru Dave Powers

Guru Dave Powers provides daily observations on snow conditions in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

The Goo makes his assessments at Snowbird by personally sampling the product every day, as he has for 35 years.  He averages about 130 days of skiing every year.  His comprehensive reports reflect a lifetime of experience in the canyon.
