HIGH DENSITY

A nice installment of high density Essence graced the hill today, with a quick return to cold temps.  The wind was up and was filling the North and East faces with extra depth.  The High North had filled in sufficiently to cover some of the rastiness that has been plaguing some entrances, and I took advantage of the situation to visit the lines I have been avoiding due to the gnar.  The traffic was strong out of the chute, but dissipated as the back side opened drawing the faithful back there to get the goodness.   The substrate was fully in effect, though the high density cushioned the ride nicely,  but the crusty tops were still poking through the fresh coating.   Tomorrow, look for all the Groomers to be going off top to bottom, the residual cushion to still be holding the cold and predicted warmer temps.   It will be clear, so the Sun will be working the product on the exposed areas, which will also still be crunchy from last Saturday’s heat wave.   Keep in mind the uphill traffic, which is throwing down everywhere on the hill, so expect traffic where you might have not expected it.  There is significant weather in the forecast,  so scope out the lines before the visibility issues DSC01342develop with the associated storm riding.   I tripped on my ski pole today as I was checking my mirrors before leaving the cat track and dislocated my shoulder.  I will be healing for a couple of weeks, but I will be on deck to get the real scoop, and make some easy runs to keep it going.   See you in a couple of days. Here is a shot of the wind worked lines looking fat and inviting.    IBBY!!!ill

I’m sorry to hear about your shoulder – major bummer. Good thing Snowbird’s season is the longest in Utah so you’ll have plenty of good sliding once you’ve recovered. Heal up quickly and thanks for all you do!
