FREE REFILLS

1-09-14 by dave

As anticipated, the overnight accumulation of Essence made this morning one to be on hand for.  While there was a wait for first Tram, the pressure was quickly pushed up the hill, and quick turnarounds were easy to make.  With boot top depth of medium density quality, the low angle aspects were offering the best feel.  The steeper shots were still a bit crunchy underneath, but the low angle shots felt bottomless and luxurious.  The go to, out of the way, areas were vacant, leaving time to place another track next to the one you put down just minutes prior.  These runs were the best lines of the season.  Other aspects on the hill were also coming alive as the hard driving snow and wind provided free refills all day long.  The conditions just kept getting better as the snow fell hard.  Here is a shot of my car when I went to head for the Trailer.  Tomorrow, the Canyon will be closed in the morning, so check the report.  More overnight accumulation and wind deposited lines will make for another amazing day of snow sport sliding.  The higher density Essence will begin to cushion the rumble after it had been worked in today.  Every aspect will be improving with the accumulation, and the hill is becoming what we know and love.  Check the Bird site for Canyon info in the AM.  More is on the way in the next few days as the pattern continues.  Keep it coming.  Stay Frosty!!DSC01741

Dave – thanks for the awesome suggestion for seeking out the tunnel and skiing Mineral Basin today. We were able to get in three runs before they closed us off. You were absolutely correct in that we were able to ski nearly fresh powder on each run.

Thanks again! Excellent timing in our getting to meet you.

We will be back for another round (hopefully tomorrow 🙂 )
