The sky was overcast and the winds of change were happening to begin the day. That cold front had moved through leaving fairly clear skies, but the temps were quite a bit colder. The pack was not going to be breaking anytime soon with the quasi Sun that was working through the high cloud deck. The grooming crew provided lines on all sides of the hill which could be trusted for a consistent ride.

Tomorrow, look for another day of change in the pattern as the clouds, cool temps, and wind herald the storm that is dropping out of the North West. I have been anticipating an Event as April does bring some big snow historically. Keep your visualizations of a big dump type event in your mind and see what we can manifest. The temps were nice this morning, with only a hint of nip in the air, and the Sun working the pack early. The prepared lines had been given a fresh till for the morning session, making the early lines fun, fast, and dialable. On the front side of the hill, Upper, Middle, and Lower Primrose Path had been given a stellar industrial smoothing treatment, making that combination – The Big Smooth- the first time of the season that it has been offered. I had to get after that line and extract as much juice as I could from it before it was discovered. It is a very rare treat!!

The break was slow to occur, but began to happen after 11AM, when all the pack seemed to go off at the same time. Tomorrow, look for a dry cold front to have moved through in the early morning hours. Softening may be problematic, so stay with the prepared lines, which will have the best traction and consistency. Visibility may be a tad dodgy, so use your low light lenses. Wind will also be associated with the front, so be sure to dress for cold as the weather will be changing for the next days of the week. Speed Safely!!

There were very fast lines prepared on all sides of the hill to start out the day. The High North was offering some dry cold chalk that was very nice and was holding up. The first hour of the day offered very crisp consistency, but the Cat Crew had done another amazing job of making the carpets smooth and consistent. Lower Primrose Path had been given the full industrial smoothing treatment, and it was awesome, coming at you without let up. The pack began to break around Noon, and there were some lines of perfect sorbet that let you dial in the deepest turns of the day.

Tomorrow, look for more prepared lines on the hill, with Mineral Basin offering the best lines for the opening bell. The front of the hill should soften around 11:00 AM and get that soft feel right when it’s ready. The coverage remains excellent and top to bottom lines are good to go. The sky was super blue and the morning was very cold, with stout wind that made it feel like full on Winter. High overnight winds had moved yesterday’s installment around and left some scoured areas and long wind packed lines that felt good. Mineral Basin was very firm, but the dry lines offered plenty of traction to keep thing real. On the front of the hill, firm lines were smooth and had some dry loose snow. There was no softening today except for the flat direct areas out of the wind.

Tomorrow, look for more firm smooth conditions. I’ll be looking for some wind blown lines that may have set up overnight. Mineral will be offering the best lines to start out the day. I’ll be dressing for cold again. Wind will still be up. Stay Frosty!!

The cold front passed through with driving rain here at The Trailer, and snow up on the hill. 4″ of fresh product on the ground with storm conditions to start the day. The wind was up and the temps were cold. I took the day off and gave my knees a rest. The new snow looked soft on some of the FB posts I saw.

Tomorrow, I’ll be looking for the groomers to offer the best ride. I expect cold temps and wind to be part of the mix, And I’ll be dressing for it. The pack has been holding up nicely with the cold and the added product. The Grooming crews have been doing an amazing job, with rippin’ carpets of AHHHH every morning. It was a sunny warm morning with a very light freeze that was breaking by 10AM in Mineral Basin, which was offering some fun and fast groomers. It was fun to have that extra bit of softness to make those smooth lines dialable so early. On the front of the hill, there was still some dry dust up on the High North and some very nice tenderizing efforts had been employed down low that were a real treat.

High clouds moved in around 1PM, making the light go flat, so I left for the day. Tomorrow, look for some weather, though it is uncertain how much precipitation will be associated with this impulse. The prepared lines will be fairly crispy as the temps drop overnight. It will be a long thaw if it happens at all. We’ll see. Stay Frosty!!

Spring was busting out today with bright Sun, warm temps, and perfect corduroy for the opening bell. Mineral Basin was offering the best lines with the Sun helping start an early break. Lewis and Clark was rippin’ with untracked corduroy that let you shave nap with every turn. The front side of the hill was workable, with Upper Primrose Path getting the first industrial smoothing of the season. The pitch was direct, long, and relentless, which really challenged my stamina to keep that entire section driving ahead.

Today was the last day of the old Tram Cars, and I made a point of riding both colors. It was a very festive day, with music and fun on the Plaza and a lot of energy keeping the spirit alive. Tomorrow, look for the chairs to be the access to the vert. I think the morning should be good, with some wind building as a new impulse moves North of us, but there is some precipitation in the forecast. We’ll see what the morning brings. Dial it up, Dial it in!!!

The day dawned clear and warm, but very quickly a high thin cloud deck moved in for most of the day filtering the rays of the Sun. While the light was not flat, that filtered Sun took the edge off the intensity. Amazing groomers were on tap, with top to bottom ripping a fun and fast feature. There was a race being held on Big Emma, so staying up high, or bypassing that part of the hill made that element a non problem.

As indicated yesterday, there were still some outlying lines that could be accessed if you looked that were the last of the goods of the last storm cycle.

Tomorrow, look for another Spring day, with Sun, wide open Groomers, and fun rippin’ on all sides of the hill. The Grooming Crew has been doing an amazing job of industrial smoothing that make those top to bottom rampages fast and fun. I’ll be looking for those first untrack corduroy lines in Mineral Basin and play the crowd from there. See you there for more ground pounding fun in the AM. Speed safely!!

There was smooth cruisin’ on tap this morning as the First Tram hit the dock. Mineral Basin was shining brightly and the Grooming Crew did an amazing job of preparing delightful carpets of AHHHH on all sides of the hill. White Diamonds and a variation on Lower Silver Dipper really kicked off the morning, with a couple of hot laps to get as much as possible before it was discovered. The Front of the hill was offering dry chalky lines that were silky and had plenty of traction. The lower third of the hill was a tad crispy, but tenderizing efforts had been employed and traction was easy and fun.

The lower mountain began to break around 1PM, with a sweet sorbet feel on those tenderized lines. What a treat. Tomorrow, look for more amazing groomers, still some soft cold lines on the High North as it still was brisk up high. Be sure to take aspect into account for the morning lines as the direct aspects got cooked late in the day and may be very sketchy in the AM.

I’ll be taking the day off, so make some hot laps for me. Remain Standing!!
