MOUNTAIN COASTER

8-28-13

The colors a really beginning to show signs of changing, and it won’t be long until the fall colors are painting the hill with luxurious color wall to wall.  I went up for lunch today and get my locker all set up for the season.   I was able to take a ride on the new Mountain Coaster that will be available for the public again this weekend.  It as quite a ride I must say, with the course going through the woods both up and the better part of down.  If you let it run it really dials in the G FORCE effects, and it goes much faster than I thought it would.  The other cool feature is how very quiet it is going along the rails.  I has rubber wheels so you are flying along almost silently.  If you avoid the breaks, which I recommend for maximum effect, the last big looping turns at the bottom are down right thrilling.   The buggy goes faster with two riders, but I was alone, so next time I am going with a friend to get the full effect.   It almost feels like your flying as it is so smooth and quiet.  Nice feature for the Summer fun activities.  Octoberfest is in full swing with a large selection of beer and food, with music in two venues, and a large area of vendors with art, jewelry, clothing etc. for shopping.  Here is a shot of the Mountain Coaster Buggy waiting to hit take me to the top.  Be sure to get up there for the fun.  There are also great deals on ski gear in the shops, so stock up on what you need for the season.  It won’t be long now.  Peace Out!!DSC01585

HIGH DESERT

8-22-13

I have been camped for the Summer in a nice shadowed area that keeps me out of the burning Sun for the most part, and the TRANSMISSION have been coming in strong.  My mind is on full fry as it is a lot of information to GROK at any one  time.   Back up on the hill, the Mountain Coaster is nearly ready to make it’s start, and may well begin this coming weekend.   Octoberfest is going off every weekend with great music, beer and festivities.  The Peruvian Chair is operating, so you can access the Tunnel for a nice look at Mineral Basin in it’s Summer finery.  The colors are just beginning to hint at changing  with these cooler nights.  It is a great time to see the hill, and scout your lines for the coming season.  Think DEEP thoughts and be sure to get a copy of Snowbird Secrets and dial in the deeper meaning of the hill.   Stay Frosty!!!DSC01578

FULL TUCK

8-10-13

Well, it is August now and we have entered the steep part of the cycle back toward the Winter, so I am assuming a full tuck position to track a straight line to the opening bell.  The hill is in great shape with wild flowers going off all over.   The Gad 2 Chair replacement is going well, as the old chair is now being shipped out to – I don’t know where- and the new chair is staged in the parking lot awaiting the airlift into place.  They are extending snow making to the top of the Gad 2 Chair, so there will be plenty of cover in the early season.  That work will also re profile Election a bit, perhaps taking some of the terrain features out.  But it looks like it will be a great addition to the hill.  Since we are in the return to Winter frame of mine, I thought I would share this shot from New Zealand  that was taken by my friend Andrew from the top of his area.  He said there was over 10′ of base there when he took it, and I love the forever peaks that extend to the horizon.  That is something to visualize as we set up the collective wish list for our part of the world, and more specifically LCC, UT.   I just drove into town to go up to the hill and watch the finish of the Tour of Utah bike race and notices the slightest hint of color change on the side of the Canyon.  I attribute that to the very dry spell we have been having, but it will not be long till the real deal starts to kick in, followed by the return of  the Essential substance.  Keep the visualizations going, stay safe, and I will be posting a bit more as we head into the season.   Ciao!!photo-2
