SLOW CLEARING

The storm clouds were lingering ahead of the slow clearing as the storm impulses move on to the East.  A light dusting of Essence covered the hill, with the Groomers offering epic carving lines that were really amazing.  Mineral Basin, when it opened later in the morning, offered more fresh lines that had held up nicely.  I opted to go for the long traverse to sample some of the High North lines that seemed to have been left alone due to the marginal visibility, and I found fresh deep goodness with absolutely no pressure.  What a gift after the full court press during the recent opening of the Basin.  On the front of the hill, the early money was to be found on the High North aspects that held beautiful soft snow that was magic to move through.  The Exotic Trees also offered a fresh area to dial in, but there was a fair amount of interest there and the goods went fast. There were a few windows of filtered Sun as the clouds began to break up, but the cold temps. and lack of Sun rays preserved the product on all aspects.     Here is a shot I got of the Rock Stars of the Freestyle era, assembled on the Plaza this afternoon.    From left to right, Mike, Scott, Rick, Bill, Terri, Peter, and Hoffy down in front.  These folks were the real pioneers of  the full on fall line attack.  It was a real treat to see them all together looking just as fit as they did 40 years ago, and they are still hitting it just as hard.  Tomorrow, look for sunny skies and warmer temps., awesome Hydro Velvet on all sides of the hill, and, perhaps, the opening of the Road To Provo, which remained closed today.  We will have to see.  Since the Sun was shrouded all day for the most part, all aspects should be soft and fairly consistent, with only minimal wind affected quality.  See The Line, BE The Line!!
