RAINBOW SUN

The Sun returned today along with much warmer air and very nice visibility.    Mineral Basin was offering very vacant lines of smooth corduroy that invited a big round turn.  The front of the hill was smooth and fast on both sides, and the light traffic made the back to back pace an easy pace to keep.   Off trail, the pack seem to be smoothing as the traffic seems to sand the product down to dust.  It is that dust you want to look for as the day wears on for silky lines to the side of the trails.  Later in the afternoon,  Regulator became very soft as the Sun began to work that South West facing aspect.  The sky was blue with a high cloud deck lightly filtering the rays.  Here is a shot of the Sun behind the Twins surrounded by a Rainbow.  It was quite distinct.  DSC02402Tomorrow, look for the Groomers to be offering the fast smooth lines for the morning session, continued warm temps. and very light traffic to start the day.  Sunshine will be illuminating Mineral Basin from the first bell, so be sure to take advantage of the good light and lines back there.  Look for those High North lines to still be holding the smooth supportable slab as it is wearing like iron, though it is dry and chalky and not a bit icy.  Look for those smoothing lines that are cropping up all over the hill.   Just keep a keen eye out for the goods, those gems are very special when we are waiting for snow.  There is always great snow on the hill somewhere.  See you there for the hunt for smooth.   Peace Out!!
