COLD WIND

It was a bright, cold, sunny morning with a very stout wind blowing out of the Northwest.  I was looking for wind lines, and while they were beginning to develop, there was not enough loose material to really set up the goods.  There were indeed some very nice wind deposited sections out and about, but I was looking for those big smooth rippers.  Snow guns were laying down some beautiful Gun Powder on Regulator, which was blown hundreds of feet down the hill, covering large sections of the main drop.  What a treat that was.  The underlying crunch is still a real factor, but those High North sections are still holding the smooth dry chalky feel that had been set up last week.  On the front of the hill, the pack has become quite firm with some sparse icy spots that kept you on your toes.  There was plenty of nice loose dry powder to make the transitions between those tiles, and a deliberate averaging line kept the turns smoothed out.  Light traffic for the first hour kept the momentum going, though Mineral Basin was the big draw with the Sun calling the faithful to the fun zone.   All the energies were in alignment this morning as is evidenced by this shot of the clock pegged at the magical 11:11 hour.   I knew then that all was in order and as it should beDSC02522Tomorrow, look for another great morning, with ripping Groomers, light traffic, and bright Sun to make Mineral Basin the place to start the dance party.  Still, look to the High North aspects for the dry smooth lines that are still to be had.  There might be some added wind work, so keep your eyes out for some of those lines.   The snow making may still be in effect, so look for those sections of Gun Powder for some righteous Hydro Velvet! DSC02525 Here is a shot of Ms. Cool keeping the vibrations high there on the Plaza deck.  It is always a treat to see her bright shining smile.  Shine On Ms. Cool.  See you for the morning carve fest.   IBBY!!
