The hill received a fresh dusting of Essence over night, with 3” of light product on the mat. Residual clouds were still in the mix, making visibility variable, however, pools of Sun were peaking through the receeding clouds as the day wore on. There was a fair turnout by The Faithful, but by Noon the Tram was walk on back to back. With such a small accumulation, the old layer was fully in effect and using your knowledge of the smoothed out sections came in handy. The Groomers were smooth and consistent on all sides of the hill and offered the best ride turn for turn.

Tomorrow, look for great grooming on all sides of the hill, with Mineral Basin offering the goods for the opening rounds. That fresh product will be tilled into the mat and should make for some extra special sauce for that untracked corduroy. Those smooth sections from this last stretch will still be offering the overall good ride turn for turn. Some of the sections that had been worked over more, will demand a lot more attention to detail. Speed Safely!!

Clear cold skies greeted The Faithful this morning as the last window of Sun before the storm opened. Mineral Basin was bathed in Sunshine and cold temps, with White Diamonds getting a fresh till, and Lewis a Clark sporting a new line punched right down the middle of Claim Jumper. Those untracked carpets of AHHHHH required numerous laps to start out the day with ground pounding fun. On the Front of the hill, Lower Primrose Path was re worked again making that front side drop a stamina test for sure. That is a long stretch of DOWN to keep you paying attention.

Clouds moved in around 2 PM and the light began to flatten out. Tomorrow, look for some snow to have fallen overnight as the storm is on the door step right now with precipitation just a few hours out now. The firm layer will still be in play, but the new snow will offer a fresh coating on the hill. I expect a bit more traffic for the occasion. The hill is in very good shape, but visibility may be an issue. Dress for stormage. Lay it over like Ligety!!!

It was a sunny funshine morning with bright Sun illuminating Mineral Basin and rip tearing fresh corduroy over on Lewis and Clark. The air was quite nippy with a stout wind that was very biting. Having a big hood in such a case it great. On the front of the hill, The Peruvian Gulch was offering ground pounding fun with those steep sections asking to be dialed instead of schralped. I did my best Dialing.

Traffic was very light and it was great having empty lines to stretch out on. Tomorrow, look for some changes as a storm begins moving in for the next couple of days. I will be dressing more warmly to deal with the changes. The hill is in great shape. Now is a great time to take a look around and survey the options and the prevailing features.

The hill will still be fast and uncrowded, so look for the untracked corduroy smooth for the morning session. It has been epic!! Good Times!!!

There were high clouds floating over the peaks this morning, but the Sun was burning through them, letting plenty of Sunshine through and illuminating the Dance Floor. Mineral Basin was offering the smooth goods, with Silver Dipper getting the Industrial Smoothing treatment for the first time of the season. That was a treat and was worth a few laps back there until it was found out. The front of the hill was offering great lines on the Peruvian Gulch, where middle, and lower Primrose path had been prepared in fine style, offering wonderful granular carpets that let you really dial the juice into each turn with unmitigated audacity.

Regulator and the West side of the hill had consolidated quite a bit and required a more measured approach, though there was plenty of soft dust on the prepared lines to keep things real. Tomorrow, look for more partly cloudy skies, but I think, like today, it will burn off and visibility should be excellent. The hill remains in great shape, with the Sun still low in the sky and the dry chalky feel holding up nicely. IBBY!!!

A beautiful morning with Sun, smooth cruisin’, low traffic, and wide open lines started this holiday. Beautifully prepared lines had been worked on all sides of the hill and the rock and roll meter was pegged. I worked the Lewis and Clark sections for the morning session, where no one was following and was able to dial in some full platform engagement turns. On the front of the hill, the Sun was still behind the ridge, but the corduroy was calling and I took advantage of those empty lines as well.

At 11AM a high cloud deck moved in and really put the damper on the visibility. There was some detail filtering through, but I was so enjoying the high resolution. The hill remains in great shape, and some of the big lines are smoothing out with such low traffic and mild edge massaging. Tomorrow, look for a cloud cover day. The light may be flat again, but I am hoping for a burn off. The Groomers will be offering untracked corduroy and the High North lines will still be offering steep, smooth, attention getting lines. The temps were quite a bit colder this morning, with a stout wind blowing on the hill, but that did not stop the Sun from warming it up with that Solar Impulse playing on you. Mineral Basin was amazing, with lots of great prepared lines. The off trail sections were tricky at best, but some of the off trail lines were smooth and wide open. It is nice to be able to scope it all out from the chair.

On the front of the hill, Lower Primrose Path was given a great industrial smoothing, leaving it dry, chalky, silky, and fast. It gets deeper, but it does not get better. Worth repeat visits until it was discovered.

Tomorrow, look for more great cruisin’ on all sides of the hill. I expect a bit more of a crowd to be in the mix. Get out ahead of the crowd and stay one step ahead for best results. The conditions are great wall to wall, and the coverage is holding up very well. Have a great day rockin’ the smooth. Remain Standing!!!

The temps were a bit cooler this morning, but the Sun was bright and the sky was clear, so the rock and roll fest was good to go for the day. Mineral Basin was offering brightly lit corduroy goodness to dial in your inner Ligety, and the rest of the hill had been prepared top to bottom for full on vertical attacks. The High North aspects are still holding the dry chalky cold lines that are staying smooth all day long. Be sure to scope out some of the lines that have been ignored to find some white gold to be had. If it is not going to snow, it might as well Sun!!!

Tomorrow, look for more great high pressure goodness all over the hill. Be sure to follow the Sun for the best lines of the day. Regulator should be softening up a bit by Noon. The front of the hill is staying dry and chalky all day. I expect traffic to be nominal and it should be a fast and furious day. IBBY!

A fast moving cold front moved through The Front overnight, but took all the clouds and precipitation with it, leaving another beautiful day of inversion fun. The Groomers were wide open and beautifully prepared for those untracked arcing turns. Mineral Basin was offering those early sunshine lines that begged for multiple laps. Light traffic made for a full on vertical fest on all sides of the hill, with walk on Trams going up all day. It was a back to back frenzy.

The day warmed up nicely, and those West facing lines got soft and smooth, however, they may be a tad crisp in the AM. Tomorrow, look for more great lines on all sides of the hill. Traffic should still be light, but not quite as light as recent days. The High North is still holding the cold and is offering some big smooth wind slab ramps that are really rare, so keep your eyes open. I’ll be taking the day off, so enjoy the ground pounding fun for me. Lock and Load!!

Today was simply sizzling, with bright Sun, wide open Groomers, good off trail sliding, and low traffic on the hill. I was doing hot laps with the walk on, back to back Trams that were going off like clockwork. Mineral Basin was offering the bright illumination and the untracked corduroy was insane top to bottom. On the front of the hill, the light was still quite dark during the morning session, but the untracked corduroy was awesome there as well and repeated lines were rewarded with another fresh line.

After 12:30 PM, a high cloud deck moved over the hill making the lights go out. The visibility was a bit flat, but the warm afternoon temps made the pack smooth and tasty. Tomorrow, look for another great day of wide open cruising. The off trail lines offer some interesting dry chalky texture that makes you pay attention, and keeps you turnin’! I hope the clouds move off for the morning session, so we’ll have to see how it shakes. out. Don’t Forget To SIZZLE!!!

With a cool breeze, bright Sun, low traffic, and amazing carpets of AHHHHHH, offered the opportunity to make the day a vertical fest. Mineral Basin was going off early with dry chalky lines that let you dial in your Inner Ligety!! The Front side of the hill was fairly dark for the morning session, but was smooth, empty and perfect for back to back Trams.

The day warmed up nicely, however, the pack remained dry, cold and chalky wall to wall. The boundary opened and there were some great lines to be had out of area.

Tomorrow, look for another inversion day on the hill, with wide open lines to bring the thunder. Mineral Basin will, as usual, bring the bright Sun to start the day rippin’ the carpets of AHHHH! See you there for the ground pounding fun. Speed Safely!!!
